The Catholic Women's League of Canada (CWL) is a national organization of Roman Catholic women that “contributes to the life and vitality of the church, family and community, both at home and abroad.”
St. Clement’s Parish CWL was formed in October 1955, thereby establishing a strong and active spiritual, charitable and social justice tradition over the years through its members. Annual membership dues in St. Clement’s Council are $20.00, which includes a subscription to the Canadian League magazine. Monthly meetings are held during which members come together in fellowship to explore and decide upon CWL concerns and endeavours at the parish, diocesan, provincial and national level. Personal spiritual and leadership growth opportunities are afforded through attendance at the general meetings, scholarships, workshops and retreats.
The Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel is celebrated on April 26. We pray through the intercession of Our Lady of Good Counsel, the patroness of the League, who is our model to be imitated. The history and recognition of the picture of Our Lady of Good Counsel is explained in the historical section of the National Manual of Policy and Procedure, available through the national CWL website.
