Evangelization

The main objective of the Liturgy Committee, a team of nine parishioners, is to prepare for the weekly and seasonal community celebration of the paschal mystery. The Committee encourages the full and active participation of all as we move through the seasons and feasts of Church life.

    Director of Religious Education (DRE)

Children’s religious education is the responsibility of the Director of Religious Education (DRE). The DRE schedules the Sunday School year, including classes, meetings, celebrations and Catechists. The Catechis shares the faith and tradition of the Catholic Church with the children of the parish.

    Catechist

The role of the Catechist is to share with the children of the Parish the faith and tradition of the Catholic Church. By providing preparation for the celebration of sacraments, they assist parents and guardians in their role of nurturing their child’s relationship with God.

    R.C.I.A.

R.C.I.A. is a process that enables an individual (catechumen/candidate) to inquire and learn about the Catholic Faith, using a step-by-step movement towards possible reception into full communion with the Catholic Church. Catechists journey with and share their faith with the candidates. They collaborate in presenting a series of topics relevant to each step. Catechists and sponsors share their faith with the candidates and walk with the candidates throughout the process.

    Baptism preparation

Baptism preparation is facilitated by volunteers, in a one hour information session on the catechesis of baptism. A video is used to explain the Rite for Baptism. The goal includes creating enthusiasm and excited anticipation in families for the beautiful mystery this sacrament provides.

    Marriage Preparation

Marriage Preparation is required of everyone who wishes to enter into the marriage covenant. You must register at the Catholic Pastoral Centre in Halifax, at least six months prior to your wedding.
